Casey Chalem Anderson “Balsam Flower Field”.

Curated by Michael A. Butler
Opening reception: Friday, September 21st from 6:00 to 8:00pm.

CALL TO ARTISTS:

With respect and deference to Elinor and Robert McDade of the former Goat Alley Gallery, The Sag Harbor Whaling and Historical Museum is pleased to accept submissions from all Sag Harbor Resident Artists, Sculptors, and Photographers for its "725" Exhibit.

For further information, contact Michael A. Butler, Curator at 631-725-0770 or info@sagharborwhalingmuseum.org.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

Sag Harbor has long had and still maintains a rich artistic tradition, as much a part of the fabric of the village as the air we breathe or the waters in which we swim.

Our “725” moniker refers to the original telephone exchange that all Sag Harbor households once possessed.Of course today with any number of telephone exchanges now in use, we include all artists who live within the Sag Harbor statistical area. One may just as easily say the 11963 Sag Harbor zip code instead.

The Whaling Museum’s “725” exhibit is a revival of a popular community art exhibit long held at the Goat Alley Gallery and which was the brainchild of artist Lucia Haile and gallery owners Elinor and Robert McDade among others.

In an interesting twist, the Goat Alley Gallery was located at 200 Division Street while the Museum’s address is 200 Main Street. So in a sense the “725” show has come home.

The Sag Harbor artists of today work in all manner of media and disciplines, and portray a wide range of subject matter and diverse styles. We include our resident sculptors and photographers as well.

Our multi-faceted “725” exhibit opens with a reception on Friday, September 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and will run through October 31st, thus closing our 2018 season.

The event is Free.
