“Anchor: A Whale of a Show” Set To Open in Sag Harbor | The Sag Harbor Express | By Michelle Trauring
As of last week, Dan Rizzie and Susan Lazarus-Reiman were still in good spirits as they neared the finish line, and opening night, of “Anchor: Whale of a Show” — their first joint effort as a husband-and-wife curating team.
From the sounds of it, though, Mr. Rizzie was remaining cautiously optimistic.
“We’ve worked together with other projects, but this is the first time we’ve put a show together. It was a great experience for both of us,” he said. “The show’s not up yet, but at this point, we’re both still speaking to each other.”
Ms. Lazarus-Reiman muttered something in the background.
“She said, ‘It’s been a real bitch,’” Mr. Rizzie laughed, and then added, “We get along.”
“Anything for the Whaling Museum,” his wife said, a bit louder.
The annual exhibition has changed hands over the years, this time falling to this dynamic duo, who are also artists in their own right and will show alongside 14 of their local peers. For the first time, they opened up the guidelines for the show to include not only whale imagery, but seafaring and ocean themes.
